JD Sanmed is seeking external investment to take the iScope prototype developed under the MDPP program through to commercial product design and to finish securing our IP position.
Opportunity
iScope represents an opportunity to participate in reshaping the tools GPs worldwide are using today. The iScope represents a leap forward in capability from existing devices based on technology of a hundred years ago to a modern digital-enabled medical device leveraging the technological breakthroughs in digital optics from the last 20 years.
Market Evaluation
In 2025 the expected total global market of otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes and dermatoscopes devices is $9 Billion per year. There are 3 million doctors in primary care worldwide. Our initial focus will be on the 440,000 GPs in Australia, US and Europe. For this selected market alone, there is a total addressable market of A$262 million per year. With the opportunity to expand to further countries and specialists in the future.
The patent pending iScope is unique as the only procedural otoscope on the market. The iScope offers features beyond currently available devices with its digital technology and user-friendly and multifunctional design at a competitive price GPs will be able to expand their scope of practice and revenue with additional billable procedures.
Image transfer and display capabilities of the iScope also improve the doctor’s work processes for documentation or communication.
Patients will be able to receive procedures in the comfort of their GP’s office without the additional waiting times and costs of a visit to the specialist.
The iScope is digitally enabled, supporting the emerging applications of eHealth in the GP’s practice.

Complete)
JD Sanmed has spent the past year in phase 0, ensuring the problem to be solved is well understood, the solution is applicable and that there is a real market for the solution. This has included the development of a prototype with the MDPP program, physician interviews and surveys. JD Sanmed has self-funded the initial market assessment and concept development phase of the commercialisation of the iScope device. JD Sanmed is now seeking funding for the full product development to be ready to bring iScope to the market.
Phase 1 (current)
Phase 1 is focused on industrial product design and further prototyping to transform iScope into a commercial product:
